Let’s Get Started, Right. Now!

It is that time of year again when resolutions are being set and people are looking forward to the next year. People’s minds and hearts are filled with possibility looking at next year as a clean slate to start anew and become the person they have always wanted to be. Why not start today, why not start right now?

The mentality of “I’ll do it later” is one of the most crippling procrastination tools in our arsenals. We convince ourselves that “later” will be the perfect time to start writing that book, clean up the house, get into a new workout routine, or make a schedule for our week. Unfortunately, by doing that we end up deprioritizing the most important things to make way for the most “urgent” thing that pops up in front of us. Typically that “urgency” is just a fabrication that comes as a result of us procrastinating on other things that didn’t seem urgent at the time.

Although technology and our connectivity can be a blessing, other times it can be a curse if we let it. By waking up and checking our phones, checking email every chance we get, or looking at texts and calls non-stop, we end up living in a reactionary state. All of our actions are based on whatever pings, beeps, buzzes, or lights up in our face, not on the important things that we have decide to commit ourselves to.

I started Overcoming Graduation as a journey of self discovery and learning that I hope will benefit countless people in helping them find themselves as I work to find myself. We all have passions, we all have a purpose to live in this world, I want us all to start living it.

First, that means I am going to have to walk the walk to demonstrate my commitment to this cause. Starting this blog and my accompanying podcast has been a huge step in moving me closer to the vision I see in my mind for my life.

Things have not been easy this year, in fact, this has been the most difficult year of my entire life. Losing my mom to pancreatic cancer was the hardest thing I have ever had to go through and it continues to challenge me every day; but if my mom taught me anything it is don’t let fear, sadness, doubt, insecurity, or uncertainty keep you from doing what you know you are meant to and helping the people around you.

Thank you to everyone supporting me and to everyone who is starting to read this blog and listen to my podcast. I love you guys and I am excited to take this adventure with you. I am starting now with this post and with the interview I just posted with Charlie Brenneman, professional UFC fighter (see link below). Let’s all get started right now, and start the new year off with more momentum, focus, and excitement than ever before!
