DONATION TOTAL FOR FIRST 3 MONTHS OF BOOK SALES
When I launched my book, The First Step, I promised to donate everything I made from the first three months of sales to myTEAM Triumph, the organization that was the inspiration for my book. Today I am making good on that promise.
I will be honest, there was some fear around publishing the actual numbers and sharing with everyone just how much my book made over the course of the first 3 months of its existence. I had worries that people might look at me differently or look at the “success” of my book differently if they saw the real numbers.
– Would people not be as impressed with the #1 Amazon Best Seller ranking when they saw the totals?
– Would they think less of the quality of the book if it sold less than they expected?
– And ultimately, would they think less of me?
One thing I have found to be resoundingly true in my life is that everything we think and feel circles back to us. Most of our insecurities stem from a fear of not being enough. We constantly feel like we are lacking so we look for external validation, whether it be in the form of praise, money, etc. we try to find something that will prove to us that we are good enough.
The reality is, the only way you will ever realize how wonderfully amazing and brilliant you are is by looking inside, dealing with your demons, and letting go of the bull shit stories that are holding you back and holding you down.
I had to remind myself, I didn’t write this book to get a #1 best seller rating. I didn’t write this book to impress people or to prove to people that I was good enough.
I wrote this book because I have a message that burns in my heart and soul that I know I am meant to share with the world. This was a dream I wanted to prove to myself I could make come true. I wanted to share the story of an amazing organization that changed my life. THAT is why I did this.
So like so many things with Overcoming Graduation, I need to lead by example in being vulnerable and putting myself out there unapologetically to the world. And with that, here are the totals from the first three months of sales of my first ever book, The First Step:
